How One Mompreneur Turned “SmartMouth” Into a Compliment with the New Launch of her Second Online (Ad)Venture, SmartMouthLearning.com

Mompreneur, Consuelo Bova, mom of 2 and Founder/CEO of online bilingual education store SmartMouthLearning.com, encourages parents to introduce children to a second language in fun, natural ways

Orlando, Florida (PRWEB) February 07, 2012

As the only Spanish-speaker in her household and a working mother of two, Miami, FL native and Orlando resident Consuelo Bova found sharing Spanish language with her children a real mouthful, “My parents had it easy- Spanish was the primary language for both of them: they spoke Spanish to the children, the children learned Spanish. My husband only speaks English.” If only one parent is fluent in a second language, how do you speak the language at home frequently enough to teach your children, without effectively excluding the other parent from conversations- such as around the dinner table? How does that work? “It doesn’t,” laughs Bova, founder and CEO of the new online, children’s foreign language learning book and toy store SmartMouthLearning.com, “that’s why I had to find some alternative means of supporting my own teaching efforts.”

Bova, the founder and CEO of another, popular online short men’s clothing and tall slim clothes retailer, ForTheFit.com, described spending significant time and resources trying to identify support materials and alternative means of teaching Spanish to her children, ages 2 and nearly 5. “As a working mom, my time is really limited. I couldn’t believe there was no single store, no one place where I could easily find a collection of toys, games, books and other support materials that were functional, educational, and relevant.” A big believer in support materials as a means of promoting second language acquisition in children, Bova took matters into her own hands by launching SmartMouthLearning.com. Bova explains that the key to using support materials to enhance children’s language learning experience is, quite simply, fun: “Kids can smell a ‘learning toy’ a mile away. My goal was to find things my kids actually wanted to play with.” SmartMouthLearning.com makes her best finds available to parents everywhere, assembling the web’s most complete collection of truly fun and on-trend toys, games and books for children learning a variety of languages. SmartMouth features toys, books and games in Spanish, French , Italian, and Chinese, with new languages and materials added regularly. The site went live for a soft-opening in late November 2011, but the official launch occurred in February 2012. So far so good, reports Bova, “Even during the ‘soft-opening’, parents were enthusiastic about our concept and offered great feedback to shape our product mix for the grand-opening. We are grateful for that enthusiasm for children’s foreign language learning.”

Bova is also interested in building a community of parents and educators that can support each other in the language learning journey. “I blogged for a little more than a year before ever launching SmartMouth, with all manner of topics ranging from teaching tips and product reviews, to personal stories about my own kids.” She was overwhelmed with the response, “We have an active following of parents and educators on our blog and Facebook pages and we hope to add more, since more voices translates to an ever-increasing pool of knowledge on how to make teaching foreign languages to our children easier and more fun for parents and kids alike.”

Foreign language learning was integral to my upbringing- Spanish was my parents’ primary means of conveying our cultural heritage to me. I learned French and German so that I could live abroad- an experience that shaped so much of who I am today. Language has been a gift in my life, and one that I am eager to share with my children.” With SmartMouthLearning.com, she hopes to help many other parents and educators do the same.

Pure Style Fitness Supports the Fit and Pregnant Woman

Chicago,IL (PRWEB) January 28, 2012

Pure Style Fitness offers a specific line of fitness apparel designed for pregnant women. A recent article in USA today, “Moms-to-be Exercise to Extremes”, proves that active mothers don’t need to slow down with pregnancy. As stated in the article, labor is easier for mothers who exercise and it curbs excess weight gain that can lead to gestational diabetes and preeclampsia.

When starting Pure Style Fitness, the CEO herself was a pregnant and active woman. With that, she decided it was necessary to find a quality line of maternity fitness clothes. Born Fit offers stylish and versatile maternity fitness clothes. Many of the clothes can even be worn post pregnancy.

The modern pregnancy is much more trendy than in years past. Maternity fashion has come along way. Staying fit is very important during pregnancy, so it would only be natural to create a maternity fitness line for the modern pregnant woman.

The Pure Maternity line at Pure Style Fitness was hand selected to keep up with the stylish, fit and modern pregnant woman. The clothes within this line can be worn for physical activity or every day wear. The Rudy Tank is great for working out due to its lightweight and moisture wicking material. This tank also has shape retention which allows it to be worn even after pregnancy. The Betty Tee is great for doctor appointments and running errands. This tee has an applique design and a hidden pocket in the front for keys.

To complete the line, Pure Maternity includes pants, capris, and shorts. All the bottoms have a wide waist band built to grow with the belly throughout the entire pregnancy. The material is moisture wicking yet thin to keep the body cool while working out. Many of the pants have a hidden pocket to hold keys or cards.

For the pregnant biker, Pure Style Fitness has an entire set that includes a maternity jacket with three pockets, biking shorts with pad and side pocket, a pull string backpack and water bottle. It’s a great gift and can be used post pregnancy as well.

It’s great to stay fit during pregnancy and Pure Style Fitness supports and encourages just that. Remember; please consult your doctor to ensure the physical activity you participate in is right for you while pregnant.

UsTrendy Featured in the Boston Business Journal

UsTrendy

Cambridge, MA (PRWEB) December 27, 2011

UsTrendy.com is making its mark on the fashion world and the world of commerce as well. The company is pleased to announce that, with their consortium of indie designers, the site recently garnered the attention of the Boston Business Journal for its unique approach to the industry.

UsTrendy is an online collection of small-time indie fashion designers who are dedicated to bringing distinctive fashions to their customers. For a percentage of commission, the site hosts these independent designers under one domain where they can bring their wares to a fashion-hungry customer base.

The Boston Business Journal featured UsTrendy as an up-and-coming success story in the making, remarking on their innovative bypass of industry standards and their growth as a company. One of the goals of UsTrendy was to avoid some of the fashion industry norms that limit choice and creativity to a small group of top-tier designers and the knockoffs produced to imitate them. By offering an alternate collective place for small time designers to sell their products, the company has created a platform for launching new ideas and talent. UsTrendy has enabled many budding fashion designers to take the next step and go into the business full time, a fact that the company and its CEO Sam Sisakhti are incredibly proud of.

With such a wealth of designers, each with their own unique style, the company is perfectly poised to appeal to a broad range of customers. UsTrendy’s prices also make their products highly desirable to the consumer– with many items under a hundred dollars, there is a distinctive style of trendy clothes for every budget that fashion houses would offer for thousands.

The company has already shown success and growth since its creation as a fashion -oriented social networking site. If the trend continues, UsTrendy will soon set the industry standard for what an online fashion site should be.

Based in Cambridge, Massachusetts, UsTrendy.com is a forum for aspiring designers to sell their creations and for the fashion-conscious to buy them. The company specializes in unique fashions by designers that think outside the box to transcend the ins and outs of the fashion industry. By garnering more exposure through the Internet and media and the recent publication of the Boston Business Journal, UsTrendy hopes to cement their place in the fashion world and give the style-conscious some options.

David’s Bridal “What’s On Brides’ Minds” Survey Sets The Bridal Planning Stage for 2012

January 24, 2012 By: admin Category: Clothes

David’s Bridal “What’s On Brides’ Minds” Survey Sets The Bridal Planning Stage for 2012

Conshohocken, PA (PRWEB) January 24, 2012

Not sure what brides are really thinking? This year’s sixth-annual “What’s on Brides’ Minds” survey from David’s Bridal reveals what’s really in store for 2012 as brides everywhere gear up for the biggest day of their lives. From uncovering what brides are planning, choosing and even now sharing this year’s results may surprise you.

While brides still know best and are sticking to their budgets, the 2012 survey uncovers new trends that are beginning to take shape, such as sharing resources—with more than a third of brides open to hopping on-board. It also shows that when it comes to planning, brides will trust their significant other over their closest friends and family — including their mothers. Plus, brides feel finding the one (the dress that is) may be harder than it looks, with 47% of brides saying their wedding dress is nothing like what they pictured when they were young.

“The New Year is always packed with bridal activity due to engagements happening over the holidays,” said Brian Beitler, Chief Marketing Officer for David’s Bridal. “This year’s survey highlights what brides everywhere are thinking as they prepare to say, “I do” in 2012. As the nation’s leading bridal retailer, David’s Bridal continues to provide brides-to-be with the best in choice, value and convenience when making their wedding day dreams come true.”

Brides Do It Better

While planning a wedding, brides think they know best from the date to the venue, but are now open to sharing resources.

The Secret of Sharing: Despite the benefits of sharing secrets, just over a third (37%) of brides have considered sharing resources, and only 10% have actually shared resources.
A New Trend of Sharing: Of the brides catching onto the trend of sharing, the top items they share with other brides are:
    Decorations (63%)
    Clothing and accessories (50%)
    Coveted planning tools (38%)
Who Brides are Trusting: The person most brides would trust in helping plan their weddings is the man they’re planning to walk down the aisle to: their significant other (56%), followed by their mother (52%) and their best friend (50%).
It’s all in the Date: 43% of brides would consider planning their wedding on a special date such as 10-11-12 or 12-12-12.

Finding “The One” is Harder than it Looks (The Dress, Not the Groom)

The dress is the perfect expression of a bride’s personal style and finding the right one (or two) is harder than it looks.

Childhood Dreams Aren’t Forever: Women’s style changes over time and tastes change. For nearly half of brides (47%), their wedding dress is nothing like what they pictured when they were young.
Do Moms Know Best? More than half of brides (56%) say that if their mother thought their wedding dress was inappropriate, they would stick to their guns and not choose a different style.
The Two-Dress Trend: For the last two years, more than a third of brides (38% in 2011, 36% in 2010) have considered buying a second dress to wear for the wedding reception.

The Tale of the Veil

The tradition of wearing a veil has been around for quite some time and this year brides-to-be have not forgotten it.

Tried & True Traditions: More than 3 in every 4 (83%) engaged women plan to wear a veil in their wedding.
Holding onto Memories: More than half of engaged women (63%) planning to sport a veil will save their wispy white headpiece as a keepsake after the wedding.

Wedding Cost Concerns Shift

Brides are still cutting back due to economic concerns, but are also being selective on the areas where they are pinching pennies.

Brides are Still Cutting Back: Over half of the brides (53%) cut their budgets in 2011, which is similar to the (54%) of brides that also cut back in 2010.
Spending Cuts Shift: While brides continue to cut back, they are less likely to cut spending on reception essentials including:
        •     Venue (22% in 2011, 57% in 2010)

        •    Décor (47% in 2011, 59% in 2010)

        •    Alcohol (27% in 2011, 44% in 2010)

Smart & Savvy Shopping

From bridal gowns and bridesmaid dresses to invitations and accessories, David’s Bridal is the ultimate resource for brides to help plan for their dream day. Showcasing a wide selection of gowns ranging from $ 299-$ 1,350, including designer gowns from the White by Vera Wang, Oleg Cassini, Galina Signature and Galina collections, and a variety of accessories from headpieces to undergarments, David’s Bridal has something for every bride’s style and personality. With over 300 stores nationwide and a huge assortment available online, brides and their wedding party can find everything they need all at one place that won’t break the bank.

Methodology

The David’s Bridal Survey was conducted by Wakefield Research (http://www.wakefieldresearch.com) between November 17th and November 23rd, 2011. For this research, 500 interviews were fielded using an email invitation and an online survey among women ages 18 and older, who are engaged to be married or were married within the last two months.

Results of any sample are subject to sampling variation. The magnitude of the variation is measurable and is affected by the number of interviews and the level of the percentages expressing the results. For the interviews conducted in this particular study, the chances are 95 in 100 that a survey result does not vary, plus or minus, by more than 4.4 percentage points from the result that would be obtained if interviews had been conducted with all persons in the universe represented by the sample.

Traveling with kids can be easy, safe, and memorable.

Traveling with kids can be easy, safe, and memorable.

Kids Travel Pillow

(PRWEB) January 13, 2012

Traveling with kids can be easy, safe, and memorable.

Traveling with kids can be a challenge at the best of times. Kids have different priorities that revolve around their own needs and desires; they are focused on themselves and their own experiences during the trip. Kids need to be safe during travel; they need to be comfortable during the trip. Most of all, they want to enjoy themselves, and this can be especially challenging during long rides with no outside entertainment. Parents naturally want that trip experience to be as pleasant and memorable as possible; family trips build memories that last a lifetime. “Kids have needs, and getting the right travel accessories from travelaccessoriesplus.com to see to those needs makes even the longest trips comfortable, safe, and enjoyable.” said Alex Frankel, CEO for travelaccessoriesplus.com

Safety First!

Vehicle and airline travel requires appropriate safety chairs for kids of all ages. Travelers should always research their destination to ensure they can comply with local regulations. Smaller safety measures can be taken during to the trip to keep kids out of trouble. Luggage locks can keep prying fingers out of storage compartments and bag pouches while an adult’s attention is otherwise occupied. A lanyard or belt with an ID card holder and emergency contact information may prove invaluable in case of an accident. Electronic adapters and a cheap set of wall plugs will keep curious fingers from inserting things into wall sockets during unguarded moments. A basic first aid kit should always accompany any kind of travel.

Comfort Makes Happy Memories

Kids need everything to be just right, especially during trips meant to create happy lifetime memories. A favorite pillow or a familiar plush doll can provide that little extra bit of reassurance and security that makes a difference in a child’s traveling experience. Travel pillows designed just for kids not only provide comfort during travel, but make comfortable and personal pillows during rest stops. Travel pillows tend to be more durable than regular pillows and are contoured to provide the best support while minimizing packing space. Comfortable traveling clothes are often easy to care for as well. Plush throws during the winter and personal fans during the summer let kids adjust their own temperature without disturbing those around them. A breath of moving air from a personal fan can go a long way toward alleviating the effects of nausea from motion sickness.

Fun Makes Every Trip a Vacation

Kids do not tend to view every trip to see relatives and friends as a grand adventure or dream vacation. Favorite toys often do not travel well, and may be lost or broken. While some toys and games may be designated just for trips, a little forethought provides cheap, compact entertainment. Many popular travel games require only a pencil and paper for keeping score or taking notes. Themed, multiple-shape travel pillows and blankets may also serve as stuffed friends and companions. Themed luggage tags can not only personalize a kid’s carry-on, but provide a springboard for imaginary adventures. Durable traveling conveniences like personal fans, scales, and clocks become high-tech spy gear in the hands of a junior secret agent. Creativity and imagination make memorable family adventures out of any trip.

Be Prepared

Attending to the needs and desires of children while traveling can help make the trip more pleasant for everyone. A small investment of time and research will go a long way; creativity and imagination will make up much of the difference. Accessories, comforts, and items to personalize a child’s traveling experience have been preselected and organized by the experts at travelaccessoriesplus.com, all designed to make traveling with kids easier, safer, more comfortable, and memorable for a lifetime.

Fabrics by Designer Charlotte Moss Debut at Calico Corners – Calico Home Stores

Fabrics by Designer Charlotte Moss Debut at Calico Corners – Calico Home Stores

Kennett Square, PA (PRWEB) January 05, 2012

Fabrics by Designer Charlotte Moss Debut

at Calico Corners – Calico Home stores

Pretty patterns and updated classics in prints and jacquards arrive from noted designer, author and style-setter Charlotte Moss.

Interior designer Charlotte Moss has spent a lifetime creating elegant and inspired rooms. Now she has brought that signature style to her new collection of 92 decorative fabrics and 75 color-coordinated trims, all available at retail at the Calico Corners – Calico Home stores across the country and online at http://www.calicocorners.com.

With this collection, Moss brings to life her favorite designs in painterly patterns, pretty colors and a wonderful marriage of textures. “I approached this collection almost as if it were a wardrobe for rooms,” explains Moss. “I feel fabrics should be instantly appealing, elegant and comfortable, and adaptable to different rooms and uses.” Making the collection well rounded—with lots of coordinates in wovens and prints and trimmings—was an important goal. “I want to inspire the customer to create her own vision—her look—with enough choices to do it easily and stylishly,” adds Moss.

Many fabrics in the Charlotte Moss collection are inspired by antique textile documents and vintage clothing picked up on her travels. Other patterns are drawn from nature or adapted from motifs that she uses again and again in her residential design work.

Charlotte Moss’ interest in design began when she learned to sew in eighth-grade home economics classes. With saved babysitting money, she stitched up clothing for herself, plus curtains, dust ruffles and slipcovers to redecorate her room. Young Charlotte’s sister was her first client in these ventures. That passion for decorating grew. “Years later, newly married, I sewed and I shopped at Calico Corners,” recalls Moss. Eventually, she left a career marketing tax shelters in New York City when her firm was bought out, cashed a bonus check and started Charlotte Moss Interior Design.

She has been creating a name for herself ever since, with high profile design projects, magazine features, distinctive designer showhouse rooms and seven books published. Charlotte Moss Decorates is the most recent title, also available at Calico.

“We think the fabrics in the Charlotte Moss collection will resonate perfectly with the Calico customer,” notes Lori Cropp, merchandise manager for the 90+ Calico Corners – Calico Home stores. “For the customer who loves traditional design, there are classic patterns, paisleys and vining florals rendered in fresh, updated colors. There is even a design with a printed passementerie border that appears to be a braided trim.” Border prints look novel again, adds Cropp, noting that they can be used for custom window treatments with the border accenting the leading edge of a drapery or the hem of a valance or a bedskirt. The border can also be cut off and appliquéd around the hem of a chair skirt, coverlet or tableskirt.

“For those who prefer a more transitional style,” says Cropp, “there are stylish patterns with graphic elements from baskets and garden gates, wood grain designs and a dramatic ombred strié damask.

“People are often afraid of mixing patterns for fear the result will look too busy,” notes Moss in a recent interview with Architectural Digest. “But I love the conversation that the layering of fabric creates.” With 92 fabrics in the Charlotte Moss collection, there is opportunity for lots of good conversation while creating a beautiful room.

Prince George?s County Businesses Use Women?s Shoes to Raise Money for Needy Residents

Prince George’s County Businesses Use Women’s Shoes to Raise Money for Needy Residents

Bowie, MD (PRWEB) December 09, 2011

For many women, shoes can be described as a critical accessory, a passion, or even an obsession, however two local businesses used women’s shoes as a vehicle to help less fortunate Prince George’s County residents take a step in the right direction.

Harris and Harris Wealth Management Group teamed with SimplySoles to host a shoe extravaganza and fundraiser for The Ivy Community Charities of Prince Georges County, Inc.

“This event was a way to bring socially conscious women together in a comfortable environment to share our love of shoes, support our neighbors in Prince George County, and learn more about how we can create a better financial future,” said Zaneilia Harris, president of Harris and Harris Wealth Management group and author of the blog, Finance ‘N Stilettos.

The fundraiser, which attracted women from around the county and beyond, was part reception, celebration, and shopping opportunity. SimplySoles hosted the reception at its National Harbor location and donated 20 percent of all sales at the fundraiser and from SimplySoles.com over the weekend to The Ivy Community Charities of Prince George’s County, Inc.

“I found it tremendously gratifying to see so many women come out to share and support a cause that greatly benefits those less fortunate within our community,” says Kassie Rempel, owner of SimplySoles.

“This event clearly demonstrates that Prince Georges County is a community that is not only thriving but attractive to successful small businesses that believe compassion is exhibited through the power of giving back,” says Prince George’s County Council Chair Ingrid M. Turner, who also attended the fundraiser. “I was gratified to see so many women gather to focus on bettering the lives of our neighbors.”

For 25 years, The Ivy Community Charities has impacted the lives of Prince George’s County residents by enhancing educational achievement, encouraging healthier lifestyles, strengthening families, honoring the elderly, and celebrating the arts.

“We were really excited to participate in this event and partner with the business community. I’m thankful to these businesses for opening their doors and to the attendees for opening their hearts,” says Cheryl Petty Garnette, Charities’ executive director. “We want to do whatever we can to support the citizens of Prince George’s County, where we live and work.”

Harris and Harris Wealth Management Group and SimplySoles will be honored for the support they provided to The Ivy Community Charities at their 25th anniversary celebration on Dec. 10, 2011.

About SimplySoles

SimplySoles caters to the stylish woman looking for the unique. Founded in 2004, SimplySoles began as a catalog and website in the home of SimplySoles’ owner, Kassie Rempel. With a passion for style and a refusal to believe that women wouldn’t buy designer shoes from a catalog, she started the company with a tape gun in hand and phone at the ready in her shoe-filled dining room. With the success of the catalog came the online boutique, which in 2010 was named by Internet Retailer at one of the “Hot 100 Best Retail Web Sites.” Also in 2010, Kassie opened the first bricks-and-mortar SimplySoles store carrying an array of exclusive designs, including Kassie’s own line lillybee.

Practical and Pampering Gifts on Holiday Shopping Lists
Topical BioMedics New Spa Gift Sets Right on Trend

Gifts that pamper yet are affordable are a top trend for 2011

Rhinebeck, NY (PRWEB) December 02, 2011

Topical BioMedics new line of spa-quality gift sets meet consumer demands for gifts that are at once practical and pampering, as well as affordable.

The holiday shopping season has kicked off with a bit more bang than economic analysts expected. According to a National Retail Federation (NRF) survey conducted by BIGresearch, more shoppers visited stores and websites over Black Friday weekend—and spent more—than a year ago. In particular e-commerce saw growth of more than 16% over last year, according to Shopper Science—an increase five times faster than the growth of the total retail industry.

Despite these gains, Ecommerce-Guide claims 84% of consumers intend to spend less or the same amount while shopping as compared to last year.

Budget-minded consumers are seeking useful gifts that won’t break the bank, and spending their dollars wisely. Gifts that fit the bill best are practical, special and a bit trendy. Such useful items as clothing, personal care items, and spa packages are on shopper’s lists.

According to Pam Goodfellow, consumer insights director at BIGresearch, “In 2009, it was all about personal, practical gifts, and last year consumers wanted to treat their loved ones to something special. This year, it’s a little bit of both.”

There are some new product offerings from Topical BioMedics, Inc., that are practical yet pampering, and appropriate for both men and women. The line-up of eight health and wellness holiday gifts fit into every budget and lifestyle and includes either classic Topricin pain relief and healing cream or Topricin Foot Therapy Cream, along natural spa-quality products designed that can be enjoyed at home for better health and pain-free pampering. Specially priced from $ 24.95 to $ 65.95, these relaxation and active lifestyle kits are valued at $ 35.00 to $ 85.00. An additional 25% off the spa kits is available this season with promo code SPA25.

“Health is truly wealth, and we are delighted to offer consumers a selection of beneficial, pampering gift ideas this season that are on-trend and affordable,” says Lou Paradise, President and Chief of Research, Topical BioMedics. “We are also on the trend curve with e-commerce since these special kits are only available directly from our company, and our web sales along with phone orders have been very brisk this season.”
